Wednesday August 14
Ther. 53.57.51. Bar. 29.900. A.M. cloudy, some rain and fog covering the tops of the mountains. Angles from South Base delta in A.M. P.M. attempt to continue but rain prevents. Rains hard all P.M. Capt. and Mr. Hodgkins go over to the sand beach on the east side of the island and return in P.M. bringing several interesting things with them.  Dredge in the harbor but get little. Evening rainy 9 P.M. bar. moderate SW wind

Thursday August 15
Ther. 53.5.57.51. Bar-29.760 Rained very hard last night and still raining this A.M. At 1 A.M. this morning high water stood on staff at 3 ft. 7 in. At 9.30 A.M. the water nearly high but starting to fall stood at 8 ft. 1 in. Rains very hard all day with thick fog and SE squalls. Wild Gazelle comes in the P.M. and anchors. 9 P.M. barom. 29.750, was down to 29.710 at noon.
