Ther. 52.5 57 49.5 Bar 29.740. Cloudy with clear horizon & a dead calm in early A.M. Sound  in 60 fms uneven bottom. The Semidi Ids, Uganuk and Kodiak even to Cape [[Graville?]] high land nearly all visible. The Semidi Islands agree by bearings with their latitude on the chart. Their extreme visibility would seem to indicate a more eastern longitude than that laid down for them. About 8 A.M. get a light SE breeze. P.M. get the temp of the water at a depth of 25 fms. Finding it to be 51°, which with 1+ [[err?]] for error of ther. makes 52 the same as at the surface.

Light SW wind, cloudy, some fog, breezes toward noon discover that we have passed several miles beyond our port make a tack & stand in. Have a severe squall off the land which however helps us in a good deal at 4 P.M. anchor off [[Chagafka?]] cove. A boat containing Mr Schirpser a trader & Mr. Sheehan the collector and a bidarka with Mr Hempel the ice companys agent came alongside
