Dr Reyburn
Sir: I visited Thomas Green and wife Saturday afternoon and found them comfortably situated, they have two rooms and a garden, neat and clean, the front room was used as a workroom, the old man was putting the sole on a shoe at the time; said he did not get work enough to keep him busy, the garden was in good order, they had sold vegetables and would have more to sell. The man is old and appeared feeble, but not any more feeble than he has been for two years. The wife appeared like a strong healthy woman said she was troubled with shortness of breath, but went out to work

I do not consider them absolutely objects of charity for the Relief Friends, and yet would not recommend them to be sent to Freedmans Village.
