Resp'y forwarded with the following information - this matter has been laid before his Hon Mayor Wallach - who has consented to assume the charge of the Burial of destitute Freedmen of this City - All cases are to be referred to Major A.L Richards Supt. Metropolitan Police Office No 2. La Ave. opposite the City Hall, who through his offices will investigate the cases, and if found to be destitute will recommend the Burials to the Mayor who will order the interment in the Burial Grounds owned by the City near the Eastern Branch and City Work House (by directions of the Asst Convt DC it was arranged that for the time being all cases of deaths at Campbell Hosp'tl. Burial should be provided at the same place by Asst Surg Glennan and at the expense of the Gov't.
