Respy returned- The cases herein reported by Mrs J.S. Griffing Agent - has been carefully investigated -  Jessie Tolson & Family were found to be sick and in need of assistance - relief has been granted to the amt. of $5.00/100.
The case of Eliza Nelson has been investigated with the former result - no other relief needed- as clothing has been issued.
The case of Maria Gallaway has been investigated reported & relief granted
Andrew Lincoln's case was reported by me on the 7th inst.

Resp'y forwarded - The writer of this note, William Pender, was referred to You by Mr. Hale of the Treasury Dept and at your request I secured him a place as Time Clerk of the Laborers employed on the streets - under Genl Wickler.
Maj. Stone - informs me that "Pender" is a good man I have the honor to request that Maj Stone be allowed to report Mr Pender at rate of $2.00 per day.

Resp'y returned - on the 9th March Charles H. Melcher was employed at the clothing Depot at Wisewell Barracks as a temporary Assistant to Mr.Disbron, at pay of $30.00/100 per month- I find him to be a very efficient clerk & a worthy man - and earnestly recommend that he be appointed an additional clerk at this office at a salary of $60.00 per month, at present his services are indispensable.
