John Mortimer-Grocer corner of 10th Street and Maryland Avenue Washington D.C. with whom Herbert Mercer (col) is reported to be living, has rumoved to Mathias Point Va at which place he (Mortimer) has resided for (2) two years, and it is returned that (Mercer) left this City and is now living with him (Mortimer)

Respy returned Henry Reeves (col'd) denies that there was any price agreed upon between himself & Thomas Tenell for keeping his (Reeves) children - States that the wife of Tenell (who was a Sister of his deceased wife) desired to adopt the children which he agreed to, But States that he is willing to assist all he can in their support - that will forward $10.00 the first of May - and such amts on the first of each succeeding month as he can spare, the evidence of such remittance to be furnished to the Local Supt. D.C. each month - Reeves also  states that one of the Boys is 14 Yrs old & is at service of rate of $21.00 per month - and that since the 1st Jan'y 1868. he has sent Tenell - in cash & clothing $15.00 besides the wages of the Boy - I do not think (Reeves) has any intentions of "shirking his duty
