Dear Sir
Your letter of date 31st of July requesting a cold. woman was received in due time and referred to me
I have among the number that seek employment to find such a one as you want, that would be willing to go to Boston to live. Hence the delay in answering your letter. The demand is greater than the supply. In addition to this they do not like the idea of going so far north as Boston. I have placed your application on file and as soon as we can find a woman such as you desire that will go to Boston we will drop you a note. I regret that this requisition could not be filled when first received

Very Respectfully
Your Obt Servt

Dear Sir
Your letter of June 22nd to the Secy. of the "Freedmens Bureau" requesting information relative to the employment of Freedmen was referred to me Aug 4th I regret that the letter was mislaid for some time I have made inquiries relative to the kind of hands you want - I can find but few who have worked in the coal mines. I think Richmond would be a better place to obtain them, though I understand the coal mines are being opened again in Virginia If you desire it I will endeavor to collect as large number as possible upon your notifying us
