Ass't Com. D.C. I cannot find that there is any such man as Capt. Theophilus Dent. in this County but there is a Capt. Theopholis Dent near Centerville in Charles Co. about eight miles from Port Tobacco. I rode yesterday into Charles Co. and saw Dr. Theophilus Dent who stated that he had been working his Grandfather's (Capt Theophilus Dents) farm for the last four years, that he (Capt Dent) is very old (was a Capt. in the War of 1812) and that he had been confined to his bed for the last four months. He also stated that there had been no such woman as Celia Ann Jones at Capt. Dents or on the place.
That he Dr. Dent had sent a woman named Celia Barber off the place in
