States that herself and two children, a boy and girl, in April 1866 were employed at the Office of Capt. Spurgin, in this City, to go to Providence R.I. to work for Andrew Walker & a Mrs Evans, but were were taken to the farm of Mr Wm Lee a brother of Mrs Evans in Sunflower Co. Miss. We were sent across the river to Mr Edward Townes against our will. We were promised wages but never received any. The children are dead. Encloses contract between Mr Townes & her son and agreement to go to Mass, from Washington. |
