Invites attention to extracts from an inspection report  dated 4" inst  that there are undoubtedly injudicious issues of tickets by Agents;" that the present issues of clothing far exceed those of any previous time, while it is believed the general condition of the freedpeople is better than ever since the War; that Agents will be held personally responsible for issues to any freedpeople except those that would otherwise suffer - and must make more thorough investigation, to prevent imposition; that unless greater discrimination is exercised by the Agent the Asst.Com's will be compelled to relieve them and appoint others. |
