My dearest brother, my wife earnestly desired me to write and ask if you could send us or put us in a way to obtain a colored girl to assist her as maid of all work. We desire our daughters (3 in no) to go to school. They are now of [[?]] age to attend school if they [[were?]] to. Our family is not large, only 4 [[when I ? ?]] which is most of the time. You are aware of the duties in a [[Micceatted?]] family [[twhat]] a minister [[my friend?]] or Mrs. A does. Please write me what you can do for me. I am aware that this is taxing you madly but I know of no one so well able to give me the information I need. [[? ? ?]] in part
