The Secretary of War, directs that you immediately give instructions to all the Officers and Agents of your Bureau, who have public property under their charge, to take the necessary precaution for preventing its destruction or damage by accidental fire, and also to see by personal inspection, that the apparatus for extinguishing fires, of which they have control, is in proper condition for effective use.
