food or fire — no wood at all. I respectfully ask that her case may receive attention, if possible, as I have seen this morning that she has no wood or food.

Many old people are at this Office from other Districts where the visitors are now, as they the old people are told, without means to help them, at this moment, waiting for assistance in wood and food.

If consistent with regulation I would ask that two cords of wood may be left in charge of this Office, to relieve the extreme cases of distress, that we cannot otherwise supply — giving only to persons whom we know to be absolutely needy.
