Sir, I write to say to you that Charles A. Anderson a boy you sent to us on the 18inst. who says he has been in Baltimore jail, left us early this morning with George Parker a boy sent by Col. Rogers March 22, 1866, and who ran away in a week. He was returned to us Feb. 1, 1867 by Miss Heacock in a most wretched condition, and was for several weeks under the care of a nurse and the physician, but before the close of the month he ran away again; but March 18 Miss Heacock found him & sent him to us where he remained till this morning.

William W. Lucas who has been here since Jan. '64, and John A. Brown who came last August; both of whom we had considered among our most hopeful boys left with them.

Yesterday Adaline Anderson came to claim her three children who had been sent here their mother having been arrested for larceny. She it seems had been set at liberty. I sent her to Col. R. for authority to take the children. The two boys are quite large enough to support themselves, but probably they would not permanently leave their mother. The influences exerted by these
