Dear Sir
Yours of the 12th and came to hand in my absence from home, since my return this PM I have received one from your wife written by the employment Agt signed by Mrs M N Wright wishing  to have the girl returned as Laura Aunt has made complaints of kidnapping against Mrs. Wright, I am very sorry that Mrs Right should get into any trouble in this matter. I will give you the girls our story as near as I can word for word, when she came here the first day she stated that she been to work for a white woman at two dollars per month and Board, and she had to pay for a new pair of shoes two dollars, she went to see Mrs. Right to see if she had any place for her Mrs R told her she had, she also stated that she had no parents her mother dying when she was three years old, she says her father was killed in the army [[strikethrough]] when [[/strikethrough]] two and one half years since, and that her aunt draws a pension of six dollars per month for her and appropriates it to her own aunts use
