The two men Alfred William's and Moses Davis left my employ on the 13" inst on which day their month was up. Notwithstanding their contract required them to remain until Jan 1st 1868.

They left me without any provocation whatever and I deem
is my duty to inform you of the fact having fulfilled all requirement of contract before the Freedmens Beareau
I have retained the back pay according to requirement through your letter to them
