General:

It seems the bearer Mrs. Helen Fletcher (colored) rented a house No. 3 in rear of 19th St - between L. & M. on the 27th Feb. last of F. Dainese of this City at the rate of $10 pr. month — that she has paid for two months rent but is in arrears for the last month's rent cannot pay and has had a warrant served on her to appear before Justice Goddard Tuesday May 21st inst. to show cause why judgement shall not be rendered against her &c.

She will undoubtedly be ejected from the house. Her case appears to be one of distress. She has three small children and an invalid husband in the country who is unable to contribute much of any to her support. She has also a sister in law Jane Jackson (colored) whose husband went into the Army & has not
