Washington April 30/68 Brig. Genl. C.H. Howard Asst. Comr D.C. Bureau Ref &c. Sir The Bearer Augusta Williams formerly Slave of John C. Buoy, Caroline Co. Va who, since the close of the War sent him away (in the sixteenth year of his age as near as he can tell) states that his family were sold into Montgomery Co. Md - and that he wished to go to them as soon as he is able but until that time requests admittance to Freedmens Village as he has now no home, and is unable to perform hard labor.
