Hindsburg Dec 26th 1867

John Vandebberg Esqr.

Sir

We wish to bring up a colored girl, and our friends Mrs. J.O. Hall and Mrs. Ashley of Rochester advised us to apply to you for one. If you could send us a healthy girl from ten to fourteen years old she would find a good and permanent home with us. Our nearest R. Road station (about a mile away) is "Murray" on the Rochester, Lockport & Niagara F's R Road, where we would be at any time to receive her should you send one, or we could get her from Rochester whichever would be best. If you would let us hear from you at your earliest convenience you would oblige us very much.
