Washington D.C.
March 7th 1868

General Charles Howard
Assistant Commissioner
Freeman's Bureau,

Dear Sir:
You remembered, I
called on you some ten days since and
requested that you should send, some wood or coal, to a sick colored man by the name
of Chas Morton near the corner of 7th
& E Streets. I will stat that he received
the wood and was very thankful, but he
is still very ill and is in great need of
some more and if you can send it soon
it will be esteemed a great favor.
I am with great respect
Yours in Christian Charity
Wm. G. Finney
