Sir,

Following is the report of progress in his department for the months of July, August, September, and October, 1882.

Having been incapacitated for work by continued illness during the month of June, I left Washington for Eastport, Maine, July 1st, agreeably to your orders, and remained there until July 24, when the summer work of the U.S. Fish Commission, called me to Woods Hole, Mars. Iremained [[I remained]] at Woods Hole from that date until October 14, when I returned to Washington.
