PRELIMINARY CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE REGENTS' BYLAWS

Several amendments to the Bylaws of the Board of Regents were proposed for comment and for final action at the meeting of the Board in May 1995. The principal impetus for the proposed amendments is the Secretary's reorganization of certain senior management functions, as described previously. Other minor amendments would clarify existing authority and practice.

BYLAWS OF THE SMITHSONIAN NATIONAL BOARD

At their Annual Meeting (October 13-15, 1994), the Smithsonian National Board voted to recommend to the Board of Regents revised bylaw language vesting with the Regents responsibility for appointing Smithsonian National Board officers (Chairman and Vice Chairman), appointing Smithsonian National Board members, and amending and ratifying the Bylaws of the National Board.

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the Bylaws of the Smithsonian National Board as proposed by the Smithsonian National Board on October 15, 1994.
