SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION On motion by Mr. Brown, seconded by 1Dr. Haskins, and carried, it was VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the report of the Executive Committee, directs that it be included in the minutes of the present meeting, and requests the present Chairman to continue to serve as Chairman of the Committee. During the reading of the Report, several matters were discussed, as follows: Bicentennial Referring to the Bicentennial Celebration Commemorating the Birth of James Smithson, Senator Saltonstall offered a motion which was seconded and VOTED that the Board of Regents expresses its full approval of the Bicentennial Celebration Commemorating the Birth of James Smithson and commends the Secretary for presenting an outstanding program of scholarly proceedings. Pension Plan The matter of a pension plan for certain private roll [[role]] positions of the Institution is to be studied along with the pension plans of other similar Institutions and the Government's retirement system. The Executive Committee is authorized to make a report to be presented at the next meeting of the Board of Regents in May 1966. Request for Photographs The Secretary explained that the CIA had requested that photographs of visitors to the Smithsonian, including those attending the Bicentennial Celebration, be identified and furnished to that agency. The Secretary suggested that as an academic institution the Smithsonian should not be required to comply with this request for photographs of its visitors and quests.
