ties in Amoa. I was planning a trip to Amoa, & Gilbert one into Honduras for a palm, but those trips are absolutely out of the question now. The H. people have not been especially friendly at any time, altho' we got on very well after we met the Governor at La Florida. In Guat., on the contrary, absolutely everything is done for us that can be. We are treated splendidly, and wouldnt be better off at home. None of us will enter H. again on this trip, so there is nothing to worry about. We have special trains at our disposal whenever we wish, & all the resources of the country (chiefly bananas) are at our beck & call. The detention of Bennett in Honduras wont amount to anything, & is merely due to the ignorance of the authorities. Gilbert says he was locked up once down in these countries for three days because he took a picture of a palm tree in front of a commandante's house somewhere, & was suspected of taking pictures to be used for war purposes. Nothing of that sort can happen to us here in Guatemala; where the people are all friendly, & you can be [[bet]] your life we wont wander into H. again. -- I have just been in taking account of the expedition with Gilbert. Pittier starts back on the boat today or tomororw; Whitford is in Tenadores, in poor physical shape; Yates, Gilbert & I are all OK. in every way, & in in Guatemala;
