on till we get home in August anyhow. I don't know how it will wear. She is a contrast to Mrs. Osborne certainly. It is settled she come Tuesday night, she couldn't any earlier as she has a house in Holbrook, I think, to leave!

All the women so far have eyed the cot upstairs askance, so this morning, I took an early car to Brockton to look at single at single beds at a Sears store there. The only decent ones, cheapest, were $19 & $20. I shall ask her to try this & if she can't manage it, I'll get a bed. I told her that rather than lose anyone three a bed, I'd get one but said Mrs. O had never complained of it at all. I have all the specifications so I could order by mail just the one.

Lena moved down to Leggis yesterday afternoon. Jimmie, an old college chum, came out this afternoon to hunt her up, and we had a talk about Lena for a few minutes. She said Lena had asked her if she thought it wrong to take one's life where there wasn't anything to live for.

About this time Beatrice Monk & 2 others descended on us and I have been besieged by other applicants -- all in a mess -- but I must run along now, as fast as my legs can take me -- Ralph, Maude - Henry's wife, & baby came this noon and I gave them the spoon. I'll write more tomorrow. I can't get back before Thursday it seems, but hope to then -- will write longer tomorrow.
