Palo Alto, 25 June 1934

Dear D. & D.:

Yesterday I spent the day on an auto trip to Calif. Redwood Park in Santa Cruz Co. with Clausen & his wife, Turesson (a visiting Swedish botanist, and the only other out-of-Calif. guest beside myself, I think) and his wife, Shreve, Epling, &c, - two cars of us. We had a good day & got quite a few plants, and on our return Clausen took the crowd to dinner at a restaurant. Today the conferences start, and on Wed. we go off on our trip, which promises to be a very pleasant one. There will be 20-odd at the conferences, and about a dozen on the long trip. I shall not get back to Palo Alto, but shall get on the train at Davis, about 80 miles from S.F., and so shall not get to Berkeley at all. I am feeling very well and enjoying the trip.

Love,
S.F.B.
