Dear Doris: 

We got an air mail letter from Ralph yesterday which sounded rather more cheerful about your father. [[strikethrough]] Bu [[/strikethrough]] I hope that you have found him feeling pretty well.

It has been rainy here today with spells of sunshine. [[strikethrough]] We [[/strikethrough]] In the mornings I walked around the neighborhood with Dot (finding a dove's nest in a pine across the road and in back), while she picked dandelions; and then sat on the piazza for a while with her and wrote while she played.  She had a 2-hour nap and afterward we drove the Ft. Humphreys and disposed of the turtle.  On our return we had supper. Mrs Cutting [strikethrough] hay [/strikethrough] has just given her her bath & is about to put her to bed.  Dot has behaved very well all day. We took 2 slices of bread on our ride & fed them all to her.  -Mrs C. just [[strikethrough]] bot [[/strikethrough]] brought Dot out to dress her & she said "Is mamma going to give me a bath?" - She didn't ask after you yesterday until we got downtown in the afternoon, then she asked where you were.
