Pa was much interested in radio. He had me listening to it all the evening, as he manipulated it. Apparently they enjoy it a great deal. My mother is keen on darkey songs and popular stuff, and Pa goes in for sermons! And the whole neighborhood takes turns in dropping into listen with them.
The old flicker is sitting up in the pine tree; and often I see her old head out watching me. Wouldn't you like to put your hand in and count her eggs? The orioles are everywhere. I saw one eating caterpillars on a tent caterpillar nest last night. He just ate and ate. And there are many redbreasted grosbeaks about too. I heard a wood pewee, and the swifts are sweeping the skies. I wish you were here to identify warblers.
Lena wants me to come in for a frat meeting Sat. afternoon, but I'm not going. I haven't [the?] clothes, and besides I want to rest here, and plan only one trip to Boston. I expect she will be out Sunday.
Last night my father dug up a huge white larva, I think that of a big priam (?) beetle, and I sent it off to Schwarz. If you are over there, remember to ask of it, and if they had any alcoholic specimens, and how it came there. I hope you have good news about selling the car. Be sure to drop in to see Graf, and tell him Chip is going to drink himself to death! Don't break your neck bird watching.
Doris.
