Dear Sid:

I suppose you will forget all about your own birthday. How I wish you could be here. I miss you, and wish we were with you. But we must stay another week and get Doris' exams over with. It will be only a little while now.

It has been a hot day here. This morning I took the byke up to the "Itahl [[?]] neighborhood" and pretty much finished the painting of the old Wentworth House. I will work on it a little more here at home. I bought some corn, the Lithuanian grandmother stuffed my bag with 9 instead of 6 ears. I wish you could have some of it. We are still eating the chicken. It will last another day. This afternoon Doris and I went down to York Pond on the byke. We can ride down together the long hill quickly, and take turns on the level places. Altogether it was an easy trip. The water was very much colder than earlier in the the summer, but we had a fine swim. We are decidedly leg weary, though, this evening.

We have pretty much finished with the old place. I wish Kimbis would get at the back shed so I could clear up the remains. But he will tend to it if I don't. The Lindelofs [[?]] are busy at the Bruce place. They had a trench out to the street dug yesterday and were putting in new pipes today. I dread
