try to get a few groceries. - one cake of soap, a couple of cans of beans, some spaghetti and grated cheese (point free) and summer squash. No meat or fish in sight, a few people standing in front of the meat counter hopefully.
     
Doris has been trying to sharpen the scythe, the old blind fellow having passed on, and no one to replace him. As soon as it dries up we will try to mow the grass at the old place.
     
I wish you would get a bulletin on trimming fruit trees. I want to do a little on this apple - it is all over the wood pile this year. Have it sent up here by the Dept.
     
I am glad the fish is apparently recovering.- If he eats, he is all right, I suppose.  Did you finish the chicken in one meal?  I wish you hadn't insisted on us having so much. It was nice we missed [[?]] the Douglas family so well. Didn't they bring back any muskies [[?]]?
     
Doris has been visiting to Dolores and others. She is very lonely without any girl of her age here. She has read 1 1/2 French books already and gotten out some library books.
     
Mrs. B. not being able to get red meat is submitting to beans and macaroni. I hope we live thru the week, but can't be certain. Tomorrow if she doesn't, I'm going to Boston. Doris is still in pursuit of the editor of the Brockton Enterprise.
