Mabel had swum half across the pond Doris realized the danger of it and sat on bed rocks splashing her legs. One girl she told me afterwards, had been overcome and had to be rescued, but wasn't unconcious - Naturally I was upset and have told her she can't go there again. If she would stay within her depth I wouldn't worry but Mabel insists on going out and Doris can't have any fun staying by herself in shallow water. When they were at Brockton last summer the life guard wouldn't let Doris go out because he rightfully said she couldn't swim.Glen Echo is no place at all for anyone to venture out who can't. It is as hard to govern Mabel as a young colt. She is the antithesis of Dolores, and I have to rely on any sense that Doris has in an emergency. She doesn't have much, you know.
