Dec 14, 1934 Dear Mr. Wallace. Glad to receive your letter. I feared you were sick, and then thought you might be traveling. So I waited patiently and would not arrange with any who wanted to buy the portrait after it left N.Y. I appreciate the situation, everywhere, and I hope if you can sell the portrait, it will bring worthwhile - in N.Y. it was held at $6000.-- and if any one wants to [[?]] the portrait, they should pay expressage - If I send it again I will pay expressage. If you can repay me when convenient. So many have admired the portrait I am surprised that it has not been sold. [[?]] has been made -- I will send you a photograph. I am having some made next week.
