I call attention to its picturesque quality, besides the firm strong work - you are picturesque now and you were the same in earlier years. So many think it is like the spanish work. Tom was never influenced by any painters work, but he did admire the old spanish painters like Rebera [[Ribera]] & Valesques [[Velazquez]] - so did he like Rembrandt - & Jerome but you will remember he said - always - "work from nature", try to do as good work as has been done & try to do even better. And so I think all great painters thought.

Babcock has the portrait of my father - the one with the large hat on. I decided I would sell that. They call it after Rembrandt; while Tom admired Rembrandt, I know it did not think of him, when he painted, he simply painted what he saw. a dark back ground back of the head. As Rembrandt did, as all the great painters did.

I try to write large. I am afraid a magnifying glass is necessary, please excuse.

Very truly.
