made some sketches and then went home. This morn I sent down to the bank the first thing as I expected a letter from you and sure enough it was there. and the way I pourd [[poured]] over it was a caution to the natives.  Also got some papers that mother sent.  After I had read your letter I rushed back and went to work on G. picture. I have got the figure all layed in.   It wont take long to finish it now.  Tomorrow the model comes and if it is pleasant I go out to work on my gondola picture, if not I shall work on the head I have just started. I guess it is going to be much better than the first one. At any rate I have got a better start. I bought a stunning peace [[piece]] of old

figured silk yesterday in a second hand shop for .90 cts. it is cream white with pink and brown and green figures.  I suppose mother would say it is a musty old rag but it is great to paint.  Just faded enough.
