I have lately been reading some extracts from Bishop Creightons life, and he says, apropos of such an experience  as yours  - "It makes a man feel rather mean; he learns how much a woman has to do for the human race in which he can take no part-"

I have no doubt that is true, but I think it is worse to look on at suffering you cannot relieve than to suffer yourself.
For my part I feel very grateful to you for giving us all young A.J. and I wish I was near to give you a hug and a kiss, and tell you how I admire
