[] 4305 May 3/88 "Grandma's baby" must have a little letter tonight. We two are sitting alone in the dining room this evig. while the family are dispersed. Uncle W gone with James McF. in his car to Fortress Monroe - to be gone until Sat. while aunt Eliza with Etta & Julia Dulles have taken the Mendellsohn Club three tickets and joining one another at the Drug Store - have gone to Mrs. F.H. to listen to a "95th Psalm".— I have had lovely pink eyes for a week nearly. and so the Concerts have to be attended by other more fortunate mortals. But Grandma & I are both getting over it - and as our vaccinations have not taken, we propose soon to be well. Harry gathered a beautiful handful [] [] I wont [[won't]] desecrate Grandma's page. She is well now, but suffered last week. Your Bates boots have come & Uncle José will take them "out". The boys listened with serious attention to your letter - today, while Cecil trotted about alone on foot, and plagued them - pulling all down before him. Etta is so well. Laurie writes me the badest news from [[poor?]] B. nurses & Doctors, etc. But she "looks well" - May must be greatly troubled about her. You must have done now with your "Concours" & your sorrows pertaining these to have, like enough, turned into joy. We give you our tears & prayers for the future - and I am sure you will be soon happy again. All quiet on this Potomac. Glad you have a private entrance for freds [[friends?]] - Now good night, dear little girl - "Holy angels guard thy bed" — Your Aunt Emily.
