and would make a lovely portrait - she has already been painted by George Fuller - I feel quite drawn to this, but [[?]] is a little doubtful. The Austines are very uncertain about what they will, or rather can do, and we don't want to decide anything until we know what they are going to do. 
I have seen quite a number of sights lately - St. Cloud, the The Sewers and the Beaux Arts. We went in a boat to St. Cloud. It is a little way down the pretty river - which is however disfigured by many [[?]] aunts all the way down. They are little though, and dont take the sunshine badly. The bridges and poplar trees however take it extremely well. The party dwindled down to Aunt Sarah Adele and me but a quiet party is more suitable for Saint Cloud than any other kind. The palace is in ruins, thanks to the Prussians, but they have [?]the gardens and the Park - And I [[?]] face it must be more beautiful now than when Napoleon and Josephine were there. The chestnut trees are gigantic, which I am sure they were not then. The palace is on the side of a hill over looking the river
