the one they operated on is perfectly straight now. The Conants and we are the only ones of our kind in the house now, except Mr. Whitman, and he only sleeps here. 

Uncle Will will be interested to know that I met an English girl the other night who has lived in Florence and knows Vernon Lee. Says she is a curious being a little over thirty - hideously ugly and very positive. Has a very coarse bad father and brother - the latter very lame - but she in her way strives hard for The Right. Also I met another English girl who knows Maud DuPuy - who told her I was going to visit her in England. These girls also knew Margaret Lesley B.B. in Florence and had heard of me from her. So the world is small even over here.  

I should like to fill up this whole sheet, but am too desperately inclined bed-ward.
