If Bacon did not really do anything - and wasn't hard to manage.  There was no quuestion of kissing & I was prepared for all that when I met him.  And was as prompt matter of fact and unsympathetic as common kindness would allow.

Dear Uncle Will

I have just written a long letter to the Beach Haveniles which you will see, but your dear little note of yesterday makes me want to send you a line too.  I am afraid you will not like my last letter to you.  Letters are such bad things, and I hope you won't answer it.  It is well that one's lower heart leaps steadily on unruffled by controversies or anything in fact.

I feel much farther away in this place than in Paris, though
