Leilia dear, I meant to write you this time about your "Emmaus," - but this other thing, this 'explosion' as Miss Annie Edwards would say, has used up my time. Let me say in few words, which may mean as much as more would, that I am greatly impressed by it, & that I congratulated you on the conception & the force with which it is expressed. As you speak of copying the original, I will tell you that the mouth of your Christ seems to me too large, & I want you to study this point a little. The face is in strict profile you know - & would you see such length from front of lips to corner of mouth in strict profile unless the mouth were unusually large? You meant the face to be beardless,- did you not?

I am going to have all the photos mounted, & the Bellini framed. Now I must stop. Love to May. Will write her soon.
