I saw a little family of French children the same day on the beach that reminded me of ours somehow only the girl, the biggest, was the leading spirit. You will guess at once who the people are in these photos. May of course is not in it being the 'taker' and I was'nt in any more than I could help as one always is a fright. Mrs. and Miss C. were anxious to be took in the garden. It does not do Mrs. C. justice but Miss C. is'nt any prettier than that. I did'nt mean to be laughing, but May snapped it on me while I was in the act. Louise! frill don't show as it ought. She has left us now. And we have a new home - Jeanne. Mr & Mrs. Valdenaire are not visible. Mrs C's head comes in front of one window. [[?]] is open - also perceive the doves [[coles?]] (which are really dirty things) In the other one I'm pulling down the bough of a pretty apple tree. We can see the apples if you look hard enough. [[/left page]] [[right page]] This last week we [[came?]] real [[?]] a fall out with one good friends the C's but are all quiet and smoothed over now - It was not one quarrel, but only general hurt feelings, because we were asked by the [[Leother's?]] to a children's party at the Hotel and they were'nt At first we thought we would say nothing and just decline but concluded that it was'nt fair, that it should be thought that four of us should always be asked to every small thing - and that the Hotel people would give up asking us at all if we declined for this reason- - when it was really very nice in them to remember us at all, when they are so many and so sufficient. So we went boldly and told the C's - and they said 'of course' etc - and began by taking it very sensibly and well - but afterwards! They thought it was a particular slight for some particular reason and wer'nt worldly wise enough to know that it was only indifference and that Mrs T. thought we would be a more interesting addition to her little party than they would - It was all very ridiculous touching an uncouth [[/right page]]
