The Manchesters lent us Romola, and May and I are deep in it, and then go out and walk in the streets where Tito roamed about. The streets somehow many of them dont look medieval,- but perhaps it is because we are getting so used to European cities that the oldness dont strike us as much as at first - All about the Mercato Vecchio (Old Marketplace.) it does look old, and just as Tito must have seen it - shops and all - Florence seems austere after Venice. finished at Gloucester— She told me Gabrielle had been ill. I should not wonder at all if there was something going on between G. and her M - though not from any thing Nellie says. What a blessed thing it would be for her—

I had two letters today one from Aunt Emily and one from Uncle Will. If I had'nt begun this to you I'd answer his as it needs answering

Grandma must write to me again though I like her little leaflets from the calendar - and this always seem [[seems]] just apropos—

You never say any thing about Emma Jones - and Sandy and Sydney. I suppose they are no more or less eccentric than usual. There is a huge white cat here named Buratto and a small white dog named Bébé Selb - the darling of Fraulein Selb, our land lady—

Uncle Will asks what has become of the portraits I did at Concarneau
