price and Amelie a two and made them happy which made me happy as I was afraid it would'nt them. Comprennez [[Comprenez]] ?  Had a nice little visit at the B.B's and then May and I had lunch at the studio and went in the rain to 3 oclock Vespers at Notre Dame - So big and dark and lofty it is there, many people and a few twinkling lights only up by the Altar—   We could see the beautiful old Arch-Bishop moving about in his golden Mitre - and they had a very full choir And much solemn chanting  which finally ended in a fine baritone solo - and then the old tune to "How firm a foundation" sung by a boy's voice and the whole choir—  You may imagine how noble it sounded and how glad I was to hear it—  After that a beautiful chorale and I dont think they did any more—  Any how we left as I saw May wanted to go—  I think I must have grown to be a pretty good sight-seer as I am almost never tired

still more  rarely bored and very seldom cold—  A 'gossamer' is an excellent thing to wear to church, as it keeps even the dampness out that is in the air—    So you see we had a pretty good Christmas and felt very warm at heart and full of good will—  We gave Jean too 5-francs between us - so you see even here there is plenty of chance to give—  Last Sunday we went to the oratoire to church and heard the same dear old saintly-headed man—  We like it there, but it is so horribly damp if we sit where we can hear - that I'm afraid we shall have to give up going there, and take the much longer journey to the rue de Berri—  I have begun Louise Kinsella - but she disappointed me today, and made me lose a whole morning—  
There are so many hindrances and obstacles to be climbed over—  The studio at any rate is good and [[?]] if she will pose as she ought— it
