We took tea with the Conants on New Year's evening in their room around a tiny tea-table - quite like Concarneau - and they were just as kind and naive as ever. I wish I had the menu Lucy got up to send you - She is making I think wonderful progress with Leroux - though she probably would do the same anywhere. She has done one head and one shoulder that I should have been proud to have done, and she is only twenty-one. If her health only holds out. She only works in the afternoon and her mother feeds her up and watches her like a cat. from the studio. They could come and live in this house - Adele and all - and live very cheaply, but they wont do it. We think they are [[?]], as it would be so much more fun for them - They would see so many more people, and Aunt Sarah could often work in the studio when I was'nt there, and have all kinds of distraction they wont have now - and we could have an 'evening', and Constance could have a little chance of seeing somebody beside her mother Cecil and Adele. It is a shame she is so wasted - and has had no youth at all- She looks so pretty now. Aunt Sarah thinks she is nearer Exhibitions etc. that is the main reason for their staying there. In some ways it is nicer for us to be separate, as we are such good friends now, and enjoy going to see each other so much - but having a home and a servant
