Merry Christmas—  The parcel has come at last safe and sound and May and I have had the jolly opening of it together under our lamp - beside our fire this rainy evening—  I went and got it at Drexels and got this paper done at the consuls same time—  Sorry he had to blot it to change the date—    We did'nt have Aunt Sarah and Constance after all and I'm sorry now; it would have been such fun to hand them out their things—  I was going to cut the strings of the bundle and then I thought of how Uncle Will had tied all the knots and how the strings came out of the [[vases?]] on the Dining-room Mantelpiece and so I patiently untied
