coral set - her onyx set, her faux pin - and the money from her portmonnaie.- I miss four breast pins which lay on a little tray. Of course besides the watches and chaletanies [[chatelaines]]. There was some $15 and a gold piece in Mother's old red pocketbook, which is rifled. We calculate that the total money loss is between $60 & $80-!! That very morning we had paid out nearly $30- which is so much saved. Mother's watch and jewelry are left behind, fortunately.

Friday AM after break: Uncle W. Aunt E. and Julia S. escorted Fräulein E. to the Utopian Reception last evening. Julia came here to tea in a lovely new black grenadine made by Mrs M. - I dont believe Paris could surpass it. Fräulein was in pale pink satin! - Prof. Clarke, the President received her with a splendid bouquet. It was quite successful altogether.

The night before they went to the Boston Symphony which was splendid. "Aus der Ohe" played, Etta no doubt is telling you about it. Cecilia is just leaving in a hurry to go to K. with the boys and Georgie.

You will have to come home and earn some money to Keep your family out of the poor house. We are now being invaded by ash carts and stones in the rear. Probably you will find us a sandy waste. But we have a piano any way and it's delicious. I hope Fräulein will not go before you come. She was sent here as a special Providence this winter. Now I go to make beds. Have no time for more but I think this will do for news.
Aunt Eliza
