conscientious criticisms, that is he really corrected the work- I think the ideal of work there is far more artistic than at Julian's- It is freer - and allows of more individuality - at the same time the girls do not give you the same idea of seriousness as at The Passage. There is [[underlined]] ambition [[/underlined]] there which one dont find any where else — but I'm very glad to have been to Colorossi's as I have learned a lot in even two weeks-

I dont like my portrait very much and I dont beleive I ever shall- It wont be as I so fondly hoped the best thing I have ever done — I dont know what [[underlined]] is [[/underlined]] -

The more I reflect on "Harry & Etta" the more I look upon it with a sort of wonder - and I havnt done anything over here to equal certain things I did at home — Cochran and the Burnham's head for character and likeness — Ethell's eye nose and mouth for drawing and modeling of individual features. Etta's feet knees and the legs of the table- I hope I has'nt [[underlined]] done [[/underlined]] my best- nothing so cruel as that [[underlined]] could [[/underlined]] happen. It is a great deal harder to do dark things here than at home because they take so long today that they are generally sunken in and you never see the ensemble.
