was decidedly the best part of the service as the rest all but Mr Thurburs address and the Bible reading, was decidedly performance —— they had violin and Soprano solo's.  And two anthem's sung by the choir - the violin solo was put down in the programme as "Dreams"—  A programme is enough to kill the worship of any service  Mr Anderson the superintendent is an artist and in looks and general behavior reminds me thogh [[though]] of the Seal—  He is a stirring fellow and has built up the Sunday School—  Mr Thurber the Minister is not at all
clever but a good earnest man whom one must respect—

Yesterday I took a holiday - did'nt go to any cours - but spent the morning going to two exhibitions - small ones one pastel the other oil—  Some of the pastels were stirrng - some charming ones by Hermitte [[Lhermitte]] - some wonderful portraits by Thevenet startlingly life-like —— And a portrait by our dear Dagnan of his wife—  enough like his Van Ingen to be a portrait of me when younger exactly the same kind of woman and in deep mourning with the same pitiful
