Monday—
I have heard from Maud Darwin and she wants me to come the middle of May and stay two weeks—  Says they are going away the 5th of June - and that Cambridge dies the middle of June and is nothing. I told her I would have to be back here in June for the Exposition as the pictures dont open until the 6" of June so she wants me to come over there and come back here again afterwards—  She has not asked May but as I did not mention her especially she may think she has gone home -  any way May could not afford to go either  to be fit to go in clothes or to

go and come—    Of course I am in a quandary about it but have about decided to go - as it seems a chance I ought not to lose. I could not leave Paris the middle of May not to return; it would be impossible to go home without seeing the most important part of the Exposition which I have been counting on all winter—  I would rather give up Cambridge than that - so I dont see any way unless I miss one thing or the other, but to go and come back -   unless May were to join me in England and then we could both come back, here and
