You know he seldom talks except when asleep.

I hope you will write asking him to think more of appearances. His shoes for instance.

I received yesterday a letter from Agnes Ford her mother has been ill very ill. They have started for America.

Mr. F. goes across about Dec 1st and intends to look Father up.

Your eldest son has a mania for climbing church towers - and going to churches in general. If I didn't know he was a minister of the gospel I should think he was looking for a job as septon. He tells interesting stories about German life. He is a loveable sort of a chap. Much finer in every way than your youngest.

Have received a photo of Hope Parks. It is a good one. Fair subject. Bob, speaking of fair subjects in the street, Rob never will acknowledge any one or thing is attractive. I'll point out a beautiful baby, woman, horse, dog, lamp post, or building he never will enthuse. He is an iceberg. His bump for beautiful is a hollow. Please tell him to change quite often his collars, and every week his cuffs. But with all his faults it's a pleasure to have him around - because he spells my words, for me such words as cuffs, collars, shoes, soap, spots &c are difficult and strange to me.

Robert has a German suit of clothes and a pair of pajamas, and a tooth brush which he has brought from Berlin. That's not all. He has a red red nose. [[image of Robert in pajamas, arms crossed]] He is especially attractive in his "paj's" He has brought from Germany what I suppose is a remedy for his nose for it is nearly always in it, a large two quart stein - P.T.O. means I suppose "pretty [[image with caption 'his stein']] tough one"
